What happens at a Jonathan Kay show, or indeed the Jonathan Kay Showalk?

The unexpected… in the most magical, anarchic and delightful way. Jonathan Kay brings the Theatre of Immediacy and improvisation into a completely unique Fooling performance. A show absolutely like no other you will ever see. Only a Fool could conjure up so rich and absurd a world from thin air, and exit the Theatre with the audience as part of the show. All rules are thrown aside and no two shows are ever the same.

For a generation brought up on passive pastimes and TV dinners, his performances and work can be mind-blowing stuff. If you have never seen a Jonathan Kay show before, it is an open door to the imagination. Familiar and yet nothing like you have ever seen. Jonathan’s Fool brings a truly unique and personal experience. His show is interactive, playful, shocking, reality bending, challenging and extremely funny.

“Not stand up, but this new latest one-man show is from a performer and teacher about the Fool who could well have an influence on stand-up in the future… Highly recommended for anyone out for something different.”
Time Out

Jonathan can carry off just about anything in the moment with the audience of the moment. Strictly not a play, but you may find yourself in a play. Improvisation at its most confounding, poignant and humorous where all notion of audience and performer gets tipped upon it’s head, and a conversation between audience and The Fool leads to a journey through both the mundane and the sublime.

The Know One’s Fool Showalk is a unique development on the performances of Jonathan Kay. This is neither a show or a Foolish walk, although it could be one, or the other or both. The Showalk will always start inside the venue. Then if the mood takes him, and the weather permits, the entire audience is taken out of the theatre to find themselves in a performance of their own with Jonathan, outside of the confines of the Theatre in the ‘real world’ outside.

This is anarchic and improvised theatre at its best, and it leaves an incredible and long lasting effect on the audience. An audience which came to see Jonathan, but ended up being in a performance with him. Kay continues to test the boundaries of theatre, and what it means to be the performer and the audience, while also playing with the confines of the imaginary world of the stage and Theatre.

From the sacred to the profane and back again..a journey into the heart of all it means to be human… from the mundane minutiae of life to the archaic archetypal forces that hold us all in connection. Expect to laugh like you’ve never laughed before, cry, hide, cringe and leave feeling utterly connected and glad to be alive.

“Jonathan Kay is one of the most inspiring and free-thinking theatre practitioners I have ever met. He is a unique, genuine and natural communicator. A one off. As a teacher and a performer, he is funny, frustrating and challenging all at once. He cuts through pretension, contrivance, cliché’ and ego. There was no hiding place. I learnt a lot from him. I would urge anyone to sign-up to his courses and to see his shows. He is a philosopher, a fool and a much needed voice of sanity.”
