In a small, dark basement underneath Tennis Café/Bar some of Berlin’s most experience comedians get a chance to stretch their legs and work on longer sets.
Daniel Stern is a Berlin based American comedian and writer. He is a former talk show host, a retired competitive eater, a screenwriter and a standup comedian. Stern sews absurd observations together with threads of unhinged wit; his performances are a frayed quilt of hilarious anarchy, earnest confessions and stories about riding the bus. He writes and performs sketch comedy. Stern hosts stand up, burlesque, film nights and awards shows. Daniel podcasts with local news show Radio Spaetkauf and produces two regular shows: “High Dive” and “Slingshot!”. Stern once took last place behind three children in an NBA Summer League half time dance-off.
The host of Monday Night Mics, Joke Time and Flat Earth Comedy, Toby Arsalan is a German-Pakistani standup comedian writing, performing and procrastinating in Berlin. Toby grew up in Germany, Syria, South Africa and Pakistan. He knows that’s weird.
Over the past three years, Toby has performed at venues in Berlin and other parts of Germany. He’s also played London, Cape Town, Johannesburg and some unpronounceable places in Holland. In Cape Town, Toby featured at the Cape Town Comedy Club, recently rated one of the top ten comedy clubs in the world.
In between spots at comedy clubs around the world, Toby has workshopped his solo show in places as diverse as Finland, Zambia, Germany and South Africa.
Santiago Angel is a comedian, writer, musician, and world-renowned sex-icon living in Berlin.
His comedy has been called incisive and aggressive by dumb people with no spines. He tries to meditate but it’s not really working. He really wishes he were making music instead but that’s clearly not working out so he’s sticking to comedy for now.
In addition to routinely destroying crowds and organizing some of Berlin’s most iconic comedy shows, he has performed all over, including: New York, London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Paris, Boston, Vietnam, Colombia, Mars, and the point where time and space converge!
He has also opened for the likes of Reggie Watts, Hari Kondabolu, and Nick Thune and will open for Kyle Kinane this summer.
