We’re happy to report that Berlin’s stand-up comedy scene in English is bursting at all funny seams! Wow!
With a record number of more than 100 up-and-coming comedians taking part, this year’s Berlin New Stand-Up Award is going to really be the fiercest, funniest and exciting competition so far! Come watch the finest fresh new faces from all around Germany work their guts out for the promise of eternal glory, monumental fame and 1000 EUR!
You, the audience, have the power! You decide which top 2 contestants made you laugh the hardest and will go through to the semi-finals!

Maya Upchurch (USA/PL)
Half Polish, Half American, Chicago-born Maya Upchurch is an old grumpy man trapped in the body of a 21-year-old girl. Maya loves to hop on stage with her sassy, aggressive and punchline-packed rants, opinions and observations about herself.
She also brings light to important cultural topics such as the fact that penguins perform necrophilia, not only making the audience laugh but also educating them along the way. She started doing standup comedy at just 18 years old in her hometown Kraków, Poland, and since then she has relocated to Berlin and has toured all over Europe with many more places to come!

Luize Beca’s stand up is adorably awkward, heart-warmingly genuine and full of unexpected punchlines. A fresh perspective on Gen-Z LGBTQ+ identity faced with growing up in a conservative family in Eastern Europe; sprinkled with tales of immigrating to Berlin and finding her feet as a young adult in the era of political and environmental uncertainty. You’ll laugh, cry and want to become her best friend after!
