Desiree Burch: The Golden Wrath

There comes a day when you look around and wonder “is the world a raging bin fire, or is it perimenopause?” The answer, my friend, is “yes”.
Authentic, curious, and gleefully irascible, storyteller and comedian Desiree Burch leads a madcap voyage through menopause, mid-life, and all the mandatory metamorphosis in her new standup hour, “The Golden Wrath”. Desiree brings childlike wonder and crone-like wit to the experiences of losing sleep, relevance, knee cartilage, oestrogen, youth, and illusions in a laugh-packed hour that celebrates the fury and freedom found when you accept that time has ruined your plans, even as you roll up your sleeves to fight it anyway.

Desiree Burch is a critically acclaimed American comedian, writer, solo performer, devised theatre-maker and voice over actress. After moving to London in 2014, Desiree won the ‘Funny Women Stage Award’ for stand up comedy and a ‘Fringe First Award’ for theatre.

Since then, Desiree has established herself as a household name – making frequent appearances across the UK’s most prominent entertainment platforms. Credits include: ‘Taskmaster’, ‘The Horne Section TV Show’ and ‘The Last Leg’ (Channel 4), ‘Too Hot to Handle’, ‘Flinch’, A Castle For Christmas and The Sandman (Netflix), Desiree Burch: Live at Soho Theatre (Amazon). For the BBC, Desiree has appeared multiple times on ‘Live at the Apollo’, ‘Live from the BBC’, ‘Have I Got News For You’, ‘QI’, ‘The Mash Report’, and ‘Frankie Boyle’s New World Order’(BBC). She’s also made appearances on ‘Jonathan Ross’ (ITV) and has two Sky Shorts – ‘A Decent Proposal’ and ‘Diane from Accounts’.

Radio & Podcasts include: ‘The News Quiz’, ‘The Now Show’, and ‘Just a Minute’, ‘You’re Dead to Me’, ‘The Guilty Feminist’, ‘Welcome to Night Vale’, ‘Drunk Women Solving Crime’, ‘The Adam Buxton Podcast’, ‘The Richard Herring Leicester Square Podcast’, ‘Couples Therapy’, Brett Goldstein’s ‘Films to be Buried With’ and ‘The Final FronTia’ with Tia Kofi.

‘That Desiree Burch can have audiences of all demographics howling over something many would struggle to define is testament to rare comic chops.’ Sydney Morning Herald (Australia)

‘A wild whirlwind ride through uncharted waters’ ★★★★★ The Age (Australia)

‘Spectacular as it gets without costumes, props and fireworks.’ ★★★★★ Fest Mag

‘Near-perfect example of comedic storytelling.’ ★★★★ The Evening Standard

Time to Shine XI – Friday

Time to Shine XI will take place over two nights, 18th & 19th June 2006
Theatre Pool (formerly Neue Bühne Friedrichshain), Boxhagener Str 18

Time to Shine is a live comedy and storytelling show, formed in Berlin in 2023. Made by and for people in kink, queer, SW and fetish communities, it explores one theme per show through stand-up, confessions, and personal performance.

Each edition is built around a new lineup and a new angle, but the basic promise stays the same: real stories from queer, kink, fetish, and sex‑work communities, plus anyone who feels at home in that crowd. Kink isn’t the punchline, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be funny.

Come solo, with a partner, or with friends. Wear latex, leather, or whatever makes you feel like yourself.

Hosted by L’aDios and Terry Saunders

L’aDios is a sex worker, doula, and activist with a stand‑up edge forged in New York: direct, political, and very funny.

Terry Saunders is an awkward man in latex, telling stories about trying to be good at the sex but never the party. They also return as the Confessions Demon, ready to take your secrets and leave you clean (enough) for the rest of the night.
