Undiplomatic: Stand-up Comedy Solo Show by Ben MacLean

Canadian comedian Ben MacLean is back with his brand-new solo hour. And it’s a comedy story that’s truly one of a kind!
Not only is Ben MacLean one of the longest-performing comedians on Berlin’s English scene, but how he got there is unlike anything you’ve heard before. At the age of 20, he was recruited to be a diplomat. After ten years of cocktail parties and top-secret projects he got posted to Berlin, did his first standup show and things would never be the same. Now he’s still traveling the world–but as crew!–and gathering crazy material on every flight. Oh, and then there’s his “non-comedy” content, but you’ll have to come to the show to hear all about that.
“Undiplomatic” is more than just an hour featuring some of Ben’s best bits. It’s also a show about taking big risks and being able to laugh at yourself when things don’t quite go according to plan. It’s about living on your own terms, even if everyone else thinks you’re crazy. Throw in some social commentary delivered in Ben’s likable (if somewhat shady) style, and it’s an hour of standup you don’t want to miss!

Ben MacLean has millions of views online and is celebrating ten years of hosting and performing stand-up, in English, German and French–not to mention fourteen years of terrorizing Berliners with his rural Canadian friendliness. The world’s only diplomat turned comedian, his one-of-a-kind LinkedIn profile also includes stints as a gay fetish model and flight attendant. Add to this the reality TV-like experience of growing up the youngest of seven, and he’s been blessed with lots of material. In addition to doing shows all over the world in cities like L.A., Cape Town and Tokyo, he was invited to perform at Berlin’s Quatsch Comedy Club and was a semifinalist in the U.K.’s prestigious “So You Think You’re Funny?” competition. You might also know him from appearances in Siegessäule, Männer and taz or from Go West Comedy, his monthly showcase in Schöneberg.
