WORD ON THE STREET #7

Mon Mar 25 @ 20:00 - 21:30

€10

Hello lovers! Anshita Koul Comedy brings to you another edition of Word On The Street at the Queer heart of Berlin Tipsy Bear, where some of Berlin’s finest, internationally touring, and upcoming hilarious BIPOC and/or TIN (Trans, Intersex, Non-Binary) and/or GNC (Gender Non Conforming) and/or other Queer gems will take the stage to make you laugh. The event is open to everyone, only the lineup is BIPOC and/or Queer abundant, so bring your lovers, queers and allies.

This comedy night is an intersectional attempt by a Queer POC producer herself to pass the mic & expand the vibrant, diverse international comedy scene in Berlin even further and create a safe, inclusive, accessible and a fun stage for BIPOC and/or Queer artists with different comedy styles. It is also a space to experiment and play with different genres of comedy like – musical comedy, improv comedy, storytelling comedy, sketch comedy, satire and standup comedy to name a few.

Lineup –

Karl Pinzon Bustillo was filmed in front of a live studio audience. May contain subjects related to identity and Octopuses. Viewer discretion is advised.
Stand up comedian, with more film credits as something else than any other comedian (actual comedy credits: 1… but enough about me… oh this a Bio? Ok…)
Through comedy Karl channels a few neurosis… and a lot of Walter Mercado.
Google Walter Mercado. It’s fun!

Seema is a comedy writer, a stand up, and was formerly a comfort human to emotional unavailable men. Follow her @beige_gurl on Instagram for rants, meltdowns and to feel good about your dysfunctional parents in comparison.

Dera Luce is a Nigerian-American writer, musician, and comedian who calls Berlin home. His stories explore queerness, linguistics, shifting realities, and other extraordinary experiences that he is still finding the words for. His chaotically fluid stand-up style is influenced by years of improv comedy training and being trans.

The event is hosted by internationally touring independent standup comedian Anshita Koul from India. Anshita made her debut in the standup world from the Indian reality TV show Queens of Comedy 2017, which was also available on Netflix but only for ~2 years for which she is eternally grateful because no comedian wants their first time on stage to be aired on Netflix. They recently made it to the ‘One to Watch’ list at Funny Women Stage Awards 2021 and is also a finalist at Funny Women Stage Awards 2022 in the UK.

She is the founder of Comedy Bazaar Berlin, a monthly comedy & storytelling night in Berlin and is the co-founder of Clit Comedy Club as well as one of the founders and organisers of Festrogen, the first ever female & queer centric comedy festival in Luxembourg. She is currently on tour with her solo debut comedy hour Little Too Much and her double bill show The Clitoris Act with comedian Mari Volar.

You can read more about her at www.anshitakoul.com but Instagram is where she can be really found.

The tickets are only 10 Euro and are available at the door. The bar/door opens at 6 pm and the show starts at 8 pm. The space gets full quickly so If you make a reservation, please claim it by 7.15 pm latest, after that we allow walk-ins. Since the ticket price is kept so less in order to make it affordable for as many people with different spending limits, we do happily accept and encourage our audience members to give tips at the end of the show if they can afford to pay more for a ticket and had a good time. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
