Anshita Koul | Where Is Your Husband? New Comedy Storytelling WIP

A new Work-In-Progress Comedy Storytelling show by comedian Anshita Koul
In the fall of 2020, Anshita went through a life-altering event that woke her up from a three decade long cognitive dissonance. As a result, she set on an unpaid solo journey to find out the truth about who she really was before she was a wife, a daughter and a classic people pleaser. It’s been three years and Anshita has summoned a lot of answers, wisdom and birds in the process; that she is ready to share with everyone but nobody is asking her any questions other than “Where is your husband?”
This show is an answer to that question and an invitation to help them make sense of it all through jokes, stories and some pop-quizzes that Anshita created in her oblivion. Come watch Anshita narrate a true story and make you a cocktail made with grief, loss and humor.
Expect personal storytelling, standup comedy routines, satires, pop quiz, a custom cocktail designed for you every month (this month’s called Open Marriage), a guest act and may be a striptease.
Guest Act: Mari Volar (Estonia/Germany)
Doors open at 7.30 pm, show 8 – 8.20 pm. Tickets are 10 and 12 Euros online and 15 at the door. We accept both cash and card at the door but cash is preferable.

LUX VENÉREA (Headliner)
The event is hosted by Berlin based, internationally touring and independent standup comedian Anshita Koul from India.
Anshita Koul(she/they) is also the co-founder of Clit Comedy Club and Festrogen Comedy Festival in Luxembourg. When she is not touring, they are performing, headlining, hosting and producing two monthly comedy shows in Berlin namely Comedy Bazaar Berlin and Word On The Street. She also teaches virtual and in-person joke writing workshops for individuals and organizations. Anshita made their debut in the standup world from the Indian reality TV show Queens of Comedy 2017, which was also available on Netflix but only for ~2 years for which she is eternally grateful because no comedian wants their first time on stage to be aired on Netflix. Recently, they were seen opening the Funny Women Stage Awards 2022 in the UK as one of the only comedians from Europe who made it to the finals.
Anshita is a polyglot comedian and has 3 standup solos under her belt in Hindi and English and is currently on tour with their solo hour in English LITTLE TOO MUCH that they were invited to perform at Copenhagen Pride Stage 2023 and that also get a press mention in The Leipzig Glocal.
37, Indian, Queer, Married, Childfree by choice and an international standup comedian by profession– Anshita is a poster child for everything Heteronormative Patriarchy hates, but don’t worry kids, she hates it back way more. A software engineer turned hardware international comedian, Anshita has created a name for themselves in the English comedy scene in Europe with their political satires, punch up routines and a funny itch to decolonise standup comedy.

Through comedy Karl channels a few neurosis… and a lot of Walter Mercado.
Google Walter Mercado. It’s fun!
